At Love and Light 888, we strive to be a guiding light in our community, helping connect those experiencing unsheltered homelessness (living on the streets, in vehicles, or encampments) with outreach teams for immediate support. You're taking an important step—help is available.

The Los Angeles Homeless Outreach Portal (LA-HOP) is an official LAHSA tool that lets you (or someone on your behalf) request an outreach team visit. Teams provide assessments, basic needs (food, hygiene), crisis support, interim housing referrals, and connections to longer-term services. 

 What to Expect

- Outreach team dispatched to the location (usually within days).

- Confidential conversation about needs and available help.

- Prioritization for serious medical/mental health concerns.

- No guarantee of immediate housing—focus on connection and support.

 How to Submit a Request – Quick & Easy

1. Go directly to the portal:

  (Official LAHSA form—fill out online on phone/computer. Takes a few minutes.)

 2. What to include:

   - Location (address, cross streets, or description like "encampment at X park").

   - Details about the person/situation (e.g., visible health concerns, needs help with housing).

   - Your contact (optional—can be anonymous).

   - For self-request: Choose "self-referral" and "not applicable" for organization fields.

 3. Alternative/24/7 Help: If urgent or form isn't accessible, dial 211 (or 800-399-6993) anytime—operators can submit referrals or guide you. 

 Important Tips & Verification

- This is for unsheltered homelessness only (not shelters, couch surfing, or at-risk).

- For emergencies: Call 911 (medical/mental health) or local police (safety/crimes).

- Capacity is limited—requests prioritized by need.

- Always verify status via 211 if no follow-up.

- Safety first: Use a safe device if submitting for someone else.
